Method
1.Preheat oven to 160°C/325°F. Grease oven trays; line with baking paper.
2.Combine butter, treacle and sugar in medium saucepan; stir over low heat until smooth. Cool 5 minutes; stir in sifted flours and spices.
3.Roll rounded teaspoons of mixture into balls; place about 5cm (2 inches) apart on trays, flatten slightly. Sprinkle with combined nuts and extra sugar. Bake about 20 minutes; cool on trays.
Store cookies in an airtight container for up to four days.
